Internships at Highland Hemp House

Eligiblility: University Students finishing Junior or Senior year
Period: Beginning immediately - January 15, 2020

HIGHLAND HEMP HOUSE is a pioneering project in building with hemp and lime while at the same time we are an advocate for hemp as a building material through research, development, with the following goals:

  • Education about hemp and hemp products.
  • Facilitating the exchange of information among hemp stakeholders (farmers, processors, distributors, etc.)
  • Advocate and support Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable business practices.

Duties: Programming and content for for workshops; marketing; and video documentation of the Highland Hemp House wood-frame hemp retrofit project.

We strive to see Washington become a leader in industrial hemp cultivation and production and construction by acting as a support network among those seeking to work within the Washington hemp industry.

As our activities grow, we are in need of interns from state universities to help manage our growing network. We’ve a developed an internship program that will give students a hands-on learning experience working within an emerging Washington State hemp industry.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working closely with executives and professionals within the industrial hemp industry.
  • Managing a variety of social media outlets.
  • Planning HHH events and workshops
  • Writing pieces and discussing the current hemp movement for proliferation across the internet, social media, PR services and other media.
  • Managing databases of contacts, suppliers and potential partners
  • Researching and assembling various educational and promotional pieces.
  • Organizational and other office-management tasks

PROFILE (Key mind-set, skills and experience we look for):

  • Have a passion for hemp and the environment.
  • Marketing/public relations/advertising background
  • Junior or senior university status.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented and multi-tasking
  • Proficient in content management systems (weebly, wordpress, etc.); email management software (MailChimp); as well as  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access.
  • Photography and videography skills
  • Newswriting skills
  • Internet access and a reliable computer.
